Camping Trip

OH My. .....I really love this river. I can't get enough of this green colour.
On the dunes, the sun was intense, but there was always a breeze. Notice the windswept trees.
On the way home, we had a picnic at Cathedral Grove
My friend, Cathy, is dwarved by this ancient Cedar tree. I was astounded at the amount of tourists that were there. Many Europeans. It was very cool.
The Shorepine Bog, is part of the Pacific Rim National Park Reserve
The boardwalk shown here is actually a floating boardwalk, but because its summer it is firmly on the ground. I intend to come back for more visits, and in out wet, rainy winter would be a great contrast.

That's a TREE???? Looked more like a cave!!! How utterly gorgeous and you're right, that green is just perfect...like stained glass. Love bogs. The plant life alone is just so unique.

But then us bio majors like the dumbest things....

Incredible! I am so pleased you posted so many photos. Aren't the wind swept trees amazing. It's so funny that they are so old...but small so different than the Cathedral forest cedars. Different ways of surviving huh?

The link to the Cathedral Grove site is really cool. Great photos and history.

I love taking friends to this spot. The size of the trees are so overwhelming in person. Pete Vincent his son and Tiff and I went there one time and the kids were just freaking out. Nearby, relatively...Mister Anchovy and I spent a day doing watercolors once...in Honeymoon Bay.

I think the rainy season is just as sublime and beautiful as the dry season...rich ancient primordial feeling at all times, but ther eis a sense of life and the beginning of life on earth in rainy season.

I look forward to your next set of photos when you visit the area in different weather.

"Primordial Feeling"!! Thats it! That describes it perfectly.

I love that green, too. And I visited Cathedral Grove on my way to Ucluelet/Tofino and thought it was a stunning, sacred place. I took some great pics, too, and found some of the most fascinating fungi I've ever seen.

Great pics. Cathedral Grove must smell fantastic! I adore old trees and feel so welcomed by them. We are one with them! Thanks for sharing.

Tried to take pics of Cathedral Grove myself but hands shook too much and all the pics were blurry...:(

Minerva and Nancy,

Yes, it is THAT beautiful.
My daughter took some photos, and they came out blurry. I think a great lense and a tripod are required.
The website shows what it really looks like.

How far away do you live from this place? It's absolutely gorgeous. I'm so jealous. I love those windswept trees.

Hi Heather,

Its about a 3 hour drive on a windy, windy, cliff side road.

3 hour drive is close enough for a day trip for you. How great!
