New Year's

Through a series of weird happenings I ended up having my hair dyed a dark red. How appropriate to start the New Year with a fresh pallette.

I went to an overnight retreat on New Year's Eve where we did some inner work using music and silence throughout the day and night. Our facilitator was trained by Don Miguel Ruiz and she is also a music therapist so we were doubly blessed.

One of the highlights for me. was laying on the floor (comfortably with pillows and a blanket) and listening to the CD, "Rumi" by Deepak Chopra, played nice and loud on an exceptional sound system. I was completely transported and I think I am still altered to this day.

Thanks Wandering Coyote,
I appreciate the compliment.
Are you back home now, did I miss your westcoast visit?
Did you make it to the island?

What a magnificent way to ring in the New Year! I think I will try that this year! Wonder what I'll find in my area... or maybe I should get my own thing going!

Tanya, Yes, you strike me as an instigator!
Ginnie, I guess because I have been blond since I was born, that it seems really radical to me.

I'm leaving on Saturday. No, unfortunatley, I never made it over to the island. I didn't think I would given what I wanted to do here in Van. Next time, hopefully.

Lovely, Jen! Have you found yourself feeling different with a different color?

That CD sounds like a must have for me! I read Rumi regularly, and Chopra's voice is so clear and rich, this must be fantastic. Thanks again for another good rec, even though I haven't listened yet.

Must be something about the New Year. I've also just had my hair coloured red. It took a lot of persuading on the part of my hairdresser but I'm pretty pleased with the result. Wonder if life will now be different as a 'red head'? BTW, I've got a new place at jennifereddie.typepad.co.uk

Hi Ruth and Jennifer,

I DO feel different...but only when I look in a mirror.
I HIGHLY reccomend that CD, its entitled," The Gift of Love" and also the CD, "Scent of Light" which is Hafiz poetry set to cool music.

Hello, I am Ruth's niece, just visiting since she said she had been tagged by you. I am doing Yoga Teacher Training and am also a high school teacher. I try to work in the "finding your own divinity" curriculum whenever I can. MLK's day was a great segue, as Ghandi was his mentor, which is leading me into giving the students their first meditation tomorrow, to be followed up closer to Valentine's Day with a meditation using Deepak's Rumi CD during a poetry unit:)))

Welcome Rachel,

How lovely that your Aunt and you have so much in common. I like your phrase, ""finding your own divinity" curriculum"
And how serendipitous that you are using the Rumi CD for your class.
What a gift to your students!
