The Power and Magic

On Tuesday Evening, the moderator chose the subject:

"Faith is the power of creation that all humans have.
I we invest our faith in a lie, that lie becomes truth for us. If we believe we are not good enough, then thy will be done--we are not good enough. If we believe we will fail, we will fail, because that is the power and magic of our faith."
-from The Voice of Knowledge by Don Miguel Ruiz

On Thursday afternoon, we are asking ourselves the question;

"How can we support each other in overcoming blocks to changing old beliefs?"

peace and love

How did the wuestions and answers go from that intense question.

I'd love to know if there was a good answer.

I find people don't usually change. And people believe the strangest things like bad science. They believe the water goes down the sink different direction than in Europe or America. they believe the great wall of china can be seen from space. They believe that there are different races.

If these misinformations can travel quickly and even be taught by teachers...then how do we drop our misinformation we feed ourselves?

Even when we turn into adults and start to develop our own ideas, we sometimes still believe what others think of us.

First...it is very very easy to overcome blocks to changing old beliefs.

You admit that you don't know everything.

Then proceed by measuring all of your activities by good healthy life affirming principles.

Then if you do good work in the world...like listening to someone who needs a listen. By encouraging someone to follow their dreams. By doing volunteer work in a shelter, give money to a charity every month. Talk about issues in nature and make your home and transportation environmentally sound.

After you do those few easy steps....

Why would you possibly care what people judge you as...and how could you not open your mind to new ideas? By helping others, you put yourself second. No not your kids, or lovers, that is duty and important...but it is not volunteer work.

go help someone needy and listen to what they know about the world.

I would also suggest readin the following books

Ishamael by Daniel Quinn
The Other Side of Eden by Hugh Brody
Freakonomics by Levitt
Wonderful Life by Stepehn Jay Gould
and
GunsGerms and Steel by Jared Diamond.

Each of those books has exhiliarating mind altering information.

I dare anyone to take two months, read each of those books...and then feel as if they have any problem opening themselves up to a new vision of themselves and the world.

It would only take a month or two to read those books...they are all available second hand or in libraries...and not feel a revolution of new attitudes about their inner life and their neighbors.

Hey by the way...I am just starting that diet you aske dme about Healing Room...called the Shangri-La Diet...it's absolutely brilliant and easy to do!!!!

Hi Tweetey and Candy,

We had some great discussions around these topics.
The second one about supporting each other generated a commitment from the participants to meet on another day for 8 weeks (once a week) to diligently release the unwanted old beliefs.
I have been learning helpful techniques to get down to the unconsciour and bring to awareness that which may be holding us back.

Interesting suggestions, Candy.
I have read Ishmael (loved it) and Caley and Josiah are just finishing Guns, germs and Steel.
I will have to revisit Wonderful Life in my bookcase.
Not only do I admit I don't know everything....I have become comfortable with Not Knowing.period.
One of the best advantages of having a group to share with is activiely respecting so many different points of view. I may not agree or choose the same thoughts or actions, but I can honor their point of view.
This comes naturally from not knowing as well.

Love your input!

"If we believe we will fail, we will fail." Very true. It's amazing what we create for ourselves, and the self-fulfilling prophesies we somehow wind up in. It's all about living consciously, I think, and that is really hard to to at times.

Yes, I catch myself in my inner dialougue and say, "Really? Is that what I want to create?"
And then I chose my words differently. And my feeling changes as well.

Also.
Just noticing that I have a block is a huge step.
Awareness is SO important.
